Monte Vista Christian Church carries out mission through the Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ). Refer to the Disciples Home Page at

Monte Vista is one of the top 125 congregations of our denomination in giving
to world mission. In 2000 we gave $75,000.00 to causes beyond Albuquerque.

Our congregation shares in mission through 200 overseas staff persons in
ninety countries around the world.

Each year in February we observe Week of Compassion through what is called
"One Great Hour of Sharing." We also collect Week of Compassion offerings
during national or international crisis'.

Monte Vista also shares through Church World Service and such programs as
the CROP Walk and AIDS Walk.

Monte Vista supports 28 colleges, universities, and seminaries including
Texas Christian University, Brite Divinity School, and Jarvis College in
Hawkins, Texas.

Our congregation has mission partners, David and Roxie Owen, in Lesotho,
Africa. Lesotho is a small country which is surrounded by South Africa.

Monte Vista has had a strong tie with the Colorado Christian Home in Denver.
This is a home for children "at risk" who need tender loving care. Our youth
have done mission projects at the home, and we support the home in many different
ways.
