Mission, Goals & Vision Mission Statement The purpose of Monte Vista Christian Church is for all members to seek a full, personal relationship with God and to become involved in sharing and living out the Gospel of Jesus Christ in every aspect of our life and work. The mission of this congregation is the mission of Jesus Christ. to witness to the living power and presence of God to offer healing and hope in the world, and to love people and to join God in the movement towards God’s reign. We seek to fulfill our mission and purpose through worship, nurture, service, evangelism, and stewardship. Goals for Monte Vista Christian Church To become a vital and growing congregation. To develop competent and committed leadership. To be in mission to the Nob Hill and Albuquerque community. To nurture inclusion of diverse groups. To be family friendly. To honor our covenant with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) through participation and giving. To make worship the heartbeat of the congregation. Vision for Monte Vista Christian Church In 2001 Monte Vista Christian Church will be a vital and growing congregation, attracting and ministering to many young families. Members will experience a strong sense of relatedness to one another and a genuine feeling of inclusion. There will be dynamic and inclusive ministry with children and youth. There will also be specialized ministries for singles, seniors, and college students/young adults. Effective and sound marketing will be in place as well as strategies to reach new people. Persons of all ages will be involved in a comprehensive program of Christian education, especially Biblical studies, for the sake of facilitating their own spiritual growth and transformation. Teachers and leaders will participate in training events/retreats and mentoring programsl so as to increase their skills and competence in the areas in which they have been called to lead. Small groups, individual spiritual direction, and spiritual retreats will provide interested persons opportunities of fellowship, focused studies, and spiritual information. There will be a lively and varied music program for all ages whereby participants will have the opportunity to develop both their own musical abilities and talents as well as share these in the congregation and community. Worship will be the heartbeat of the congregation’s life and people will be able to choose from different forms of worship. The congregation will be known in the community as an open and inviting fellowship as well as being genuinely concerned and caring for the community. We will identify the needs of Nob Hill/Central Avenue/UNM and Albuquerque and respond in mission to these needs. Members of the congregation will be involved in hands-on mission projects in the city, denominationally and ecumenically. Monte Vista Christian Church will be a strong covenant community identified with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) through significant participation and giving. The congregation will be in an ongoing process of re-evaluating our mission statement and evaluating our ministries in light of the mission statement.
